Transcend

January 6, 2025

Every January, the world gears up with resolutions, each one a promise to ourselves to improve, to grow, to become. But too often, these promises crack under the weight of all-or-nothing expectations.

One missed day at the gym, one dessert too many, and suddenly, the entire resolution is doomed.

That’s why I’ve traded resolutions for something far more sustainable: an annual theme.

Themes aren’t rigid rules; they’re guideposts. They give us a North Star to follow—a broad idea we can return to no matter how messy the day-to-day gets.

My theme for 2025? Transcend

It’s about rising above the noise and breaking through barriers, both external and internal. Transcending limiting beliefs, fear, ego, and self-imposed ceilings. It’s a challenge to grow beyond what I thought was possible, to reimagine boundaries as stepping stones.

Don’t stumble over something behind you.

Challenges and setbacks are part of life, but there’s one obstacle we create for ourselves—the past. While it can teach valuable lessons, it can also become a burden, weighing us down and holding us back from what’s possible.

If 2025 is about transcendence, it’s time to let go of old regrets and missed opportunities.

This is the year to unshackle yourself and break through to new heights. Seneca said, “Don’t stumble over something behind you.” Let’s embrace that wisdom, release the weight, and focus on building something new.

Let go to move ahead.

Reinvention isn’t easy, but Philips shows us it’s essential.

Confronted with shifts in the global market, they didn’t fight to preserve the status quo. Instead, they made bold choices—divesting legacy divisions, acquiring innovative startups, and committing to transformative R&D.

Their pivot into health technology was a bet on where the world was headed, not where it had been.

For anyone seeking growth this year, the lesson is clear: let go to move ahead. Transcendence isn’t only about small tweaks—sometimes, it requires big, courageous leaps.

Harness your peak activity window.

Just like animals, we humans have our own natural rhythms. But too often, we ignore them in favor of rigid schedules.

In 2025, let’s transcend that.

Find your Peak Activity Window—the time when your focus and creativity peak. Maybe it’s the crack of dawn (morning lark) or late at night (night owl).

Align your most important work with your sharpest hours, and let your rhythm guide you to the next level.

To your creative success…
